Mission and Vision
The mission for the LIFT speaker events is to offer the Sunshine Coast community a regular inspirational and educational series of presentations known as edutainment. These events feature members of the entrepreneurial and artistic community speaking on topics that they are passionate about, and offer high value and new ideas to a local audience.
These events are coordinated by a working group, led by founding member Katherine Scott, in order to offer opportunities to present substantial content and knowledge that otherwise might not be known by or accessible to the community.
The vision for the LIFT speaker series is to make the events free for any member of the community to attend. Anyone in the community may apply to host or speak at one of the events. Guidelines and other forms of support are offered to anyone applying to host or speak at an event.
The LIFT speaker series offers an opportunity for speakers of all levels of expertise to participate in an event that has a very professional and polished look and feel, and may lead to new possibilities for sharing their ideas in other venues.
Each event in the series features a host, three individual presenters, and a theme that brings coherence to the topics presented, while achieving consistency from event to event.
From time to time, and depending on demand, members of the working group may offer workshops for those who would like to present but would want some support or coaching prior to applying to be a speaker. Topics could include overcoming fear of public speaking, humour, how to connect to an audience, use of storytelling, and other topics of interest.
The working group welcomes input and ideas from the Sunshine Coast community.
Have a question? Would you like to be a speaker? We’d love to hear from you.
