At 21 years of age Kim Morrison became Australia’s Youngest Ultra Marathon World Record Holder. Finding herself on the starting line of a 24 Hour Ultra-Marathon race after being dared to enter it by world record holder and sporting icon Cliffy Young. She figured it would be easy, after all she was half the age of most entrants standing alongside of her… Little did she realise that the next 24hours competing in the toughest endurance event of her life would also be the soul destroying and challenging. ‘The race is not always won by the swift but to those who keep on going’ said Cliffy. ‘It’s 90% mental and 10% physical’ he would remind her as she desperately wanted to quit and give up whilst hiding in a solitary port a loo she discovered on the side of the track! As race organisers, her team members and Cliffy spurred her on she called upon every ounce of inner strength to push through all the physical and mental pain barriers, achieving what felt like the impossible to do what she never thought her body could do AND setting a new world record.
Representing Australia and running endurance events over a two year period Kim called upon that same successful endurance experience to build her businesses and write four international best selling books Like Chocolate for Women, Like An Apple A Day, About Face and Read My Lips. Today she is still incredibly fit and a remarkable speaker who covers topics such as: the importance of commitment and perseverance, never giving up, prioritising, the power of attitude, health, fitness and self care and understanding our unique and different personalities. She often refers to her successful ‘28 Day Turnaround Programme’ for the ultimate in work/life balance – basing all of this on her principles of getting back to basics and a positive mindset!
As well as keynote and guest speaking, Kim is available as a ‘Conference Energiser’ recharging fatiguing participants with brain breather exercises and teasers, humour, team building exercises, group participation and simple health and self care tips. She speaks at various conferences, corporate and networking events and business women’ s groups. Her delivery is inspiring, entertaining, real and humorous.
When asked, she shares her remarkable story alongside husband (former NZ Cricketing legend) Danny Morrison where they combine their strengths on never giving up no matter what challenges you face, making the most of life on the merry-go-round of international sport and business, the power of positive relationship strategies, living in the NOW and an appreciation that health is your greatest asset.

'When I first heard Kim Morrison speak to a breakfast group of 500, I was so impressed by her energy, passion and naturalness that I knew Netball New Zealand would be able to utilise her. Within a day we had her booked for our farewell to the Silver Ferns before they left for Manchester and the Commonwealth Games. Once again Kim was inspirational and feedback from the Silver Ferns, Sponsors and Board was that she was outstanding. I would recommend her for a variety of speaking engagements where success, motivation, teamwork and attitude are important' Shelley McMeekan – Chief Executive Officer Netball New Zealand
At a breakfast hosted by the Association of Administrative Professionals and their Managers the highlight of our celebration was, without doubt, the content of the speech given by Kim Morrison, our guest speaker. Kim, in her relaxed and friendly manner took us on a journey. The journey she faced, once she had decided to become an endurance runner, attempting to break the record for a 24 hour race in Australia. Her honesty, humour and heartaches touched everyone present. Not only did Kim share her intense feelings before, during and after the race, she took us along with her. Her parable like dialogue was very challenging and moving, with every day lessons for us all to take away and ponder. As a committee, we thoroughly recommend Kim as a guest speaker in any future situation. Personally I have already booked her to speak again at our Professional Women’s Forum later this year. I am happy to give a verbal reference anytime. Marj Mulholland – President AAPNZ Auckland
